Payette Lake, located in Payette National Forest, adjoins the city of McCall, Idaho. The lake is filled by Payette River and covers more than 5000 acres with depths over 300 feet in some locations. The area draws tourism year round because of its recreational activities which include fishing. The lake is known for its lake trout (or mackinaw) but hosts other species including rainbows, browns, whitefish, and kokanee salmon. Ice fishing is an option in the winter months.
