The Umpqua River flows through the Oregon Coast Range and into Winchester Bay where it meets the Pacific Ocean. The river offers a variety of fishing including Chinook and coho salmon, steelhead, and smallmouth bass. The salmon are the most sought after fish in the Umpqua. The fall run begins in August and runs through September and the spring run begins in April. The summer steelhead run begins in April and peaks in June. The winter steelhead run begins in November and goes strong through winter.
